ItalianoJAZZ AND WINE
Like every year, for the past twenty years, the municipality of Montalcino has been organizing in collaboration with the Cantina Banfi and the Rubei family of the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome, a special event that unites the possibility of listening to good music and tasting one of the best wines whose name is known all over the world: Brunello. This festival sees the participation of some of the most famous national and international jazz musicians, who perform in two of the most evocative places in Montalcino: the inner courtyards of the monumental Castello Banfi and the spaces of the fourteenth-century fortress of Montalcino.
Unique show of its kind Jazz & Wine celebrates jazz music and great quality wine with increasing success in the magnificent city of Brunello.
The program includes:
• The first evening, that of July 12, will be held the performance of Dayna Stephens at Castello Banfi: one of the most esteemed saxophonists and composers of the new generation. Back in Italy with a stellar group proposes a fascinating show, where the acoustic textures blend with the electronic ones. Songs that often exceed the common definition of gender and offer a unique experience of beauty and intensity.
• The evening of July 17th will be the turn of the Dirty Six: The captivating sound of "Contemporary Jazz" distinguishes them, led by pianist Claudio Filippini. The band sees the saxophonist Daniele Scannapieco in command of a section of the first-rate wind with Gianfranco Campagnoli on the trumpet and Roberto Schiano on the trombone. The rhythm, with a noticeable sound impact, is composed by Tommaso Scannapieco on the electric bass and contrabass and Lorenzo Tucci on drums.
• The Jazz & Wine Orchestra will perform on July 18: created and directed by maestro Mario Corvini, from 2015 every year opens the festival of concerts in the Fortress hosting a large international name. As usual for the great American festivals, Montalcino also has its own "resident orchestra". Winner of the SIAE 2018 award, it has been present for some time in the best Italian festivals. This year in Montalcino will host the Argentine saxophonist Javier Girotto, leader of jazz tango, for a concert of this kind of music for the occasion in an original orchestral version.
• July 19th Joshua Redman, one of the most acclaimed and charismatic artists in the international jazz scene, is considered among the most important saxophonists in the world. In Montalcino he goes on stage alongside the trio of drummer Billy Hart, a jazz legend who in his long career collaborated with all the giants of Afro-American music, creating a real all stars band, with Ethan Iverson on the piano, and Ben Street at the double bass. An absolutely must-see event.
• July 20th: Around Gershwin. Three exceptional musicians give life to an enthralling appointment with a repertoire dedicated to the famous standards of George Gershwin and some original compositions by Giovanni Tommaso. Contemporary arrangements and a great interplay of musicians give the audience endless emotions.
• In Motion Beat will perform July 21st: A band that brings together musicians from five different countries, brings the best of the New York melting pot to Europe. The sound of the group represents the heterogeneous cultural background of the musicians: In Motion Beat is a connection between different cultures, a mirror of the reality that surrounds us. Rhythm, melody and harmony are approached in a new, unconventional, but organic way with a compositional spirit that goes beyond the barriers of styles and genres.
• And finally, on July 22nd, this Magnificent event will close the Christian McBride's New Jawn. McBride, born in 1972, born in Philadelphia, is one of the most respected and respected musicians in the contemporary musical world. Five Grammy winner has participated in the recording of more than 300 records of all kinds. His double bass is the pillar on which the balance of countless bands has rested. An extraordinary instrumentalist, he is able to master the double bass and the electric bass with extraordinary virtuosity, thus allowing him to enter into exciting and well supported digressions by his band.
